The Waterfront rocks with INNOVASON and TANNOY
September 2009
The Gosport Waterfront Festival which took place from 28-30th August saw the UK festival debut of a pair of INNOVASON Eclipse consoles and a TANNOY VQ LIVE system supplied to PA company Technical Services by RED SQUARE AUDIO.
A total of 28 bands took to the stage with an average attendance of 4000 people on each of the show days. Headliners included the Kenny Jones Band, Alan Price, Maggie Bell, Angelo Starr, and Chichino. RED SQUARE AUDIO’s Paul Nicholson took charge of front of house duties with Andy Reeves on monitors. Paul takes up the story:
“We set up a generic 42-channel plot for the entire event and just picked what we wanted for each band. With the flexibility that the Eclipse offers it was the easiest three days I’ve ever had behind a console. I configured 10 VCA’s and ran the onboard 64-track M.A.R.S. recorder to multitrack a dozen or so bands which we then used for virtual sound checks on the FOH and stage systems. Andy used 12 onstage mixes and ran with the +/- 15 db digital SmartGain attenuation feature during the show as both desks were sharing the same DioCore rack. The whole thing was a real pleasure for both of us from start to finish.”
“Regarding the PA, the Tannoy VQ LIVE system earned its stripes in equally effortless fashion,” continued Paul. “We used just two VQ NET 60 LIVE tops and four VNET 218DR LIVE subwoofers per side. Everything was ground stacked and the entire system was set up and ready to go in just 30 minutes. The clarity and power of the VQ was exceptional and everyone from the event organisers to the PA company Technical Services, not to mention the general public were hugely impressed with what we achieved with such a physically small system.”
You can see and hear the INNOVASON Eclipse and VQ LIVE at the PLASA show on the RED SQUARE AUDIO stand 1-L39.
